A box to make me happy

This box was a collaborative effort between my teenage daughter and myself.  She doesn't normally do papercraft but we are away from home having a well earned break and doing alot more stuff together than we usually do.  We were listening to the radio yesterday when the song "Happy" came on and she asked me if I knew it.  When I said that I was working on a project inspired by the song she wanted to help.  Here is what we came up with:

We are entering the project into these challenges:
A Song in your {HE}art - Happy
http://eurekastamps.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/eureka-challenge-87-lace-pearls.html
Eureka Stamps - Lace and Pearls
http://eurekastamps.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/eureka-challenge-87-lace-pearls.html
CRAFT Challenge - Not A Card
http://trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/challenge-256-24th-of-april-not-card.html

Brenda created the box template for our project.  We chose some papers from Kaisercraft for the inside and the lid.  These papers have a sewing theme to them.  We bought some lace yesterday - colours I didn't have back home.  This one was yellow which was too bright for the vintage effect we were trying to create so we coloured it with a copic marker.  The image is from Eureka Stamps and has also been coloured with copic markers.  We added a ribbon flower with pearl centre to the side of the box - also coloured with copic markers.

The inspiration for the box comes from things that make Brenda and I happy - sewing and crafting, flowers and vintage.

Poppies Bunch

I was struggling to decide what image to use for this sketch - until I saw this image!

I am entering my card into these challenges:

I have used the following sketch:

http://freshbreweddesigns.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/april-blog-candy-challenge.html

I have used a background paper from Rosie's Studio for this card.  The image is from Fresh Brewed Designs and is called Peace Be Still.  I have coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva.

I was inspired by the sketch at Fresh Brewed Designs although I did miss off a couple of elements (the smaller ribbon strip across the card and also the scallop border).  I had the scallop shape in the background paper so didn't want to compete with that with more scallops!  I have also taken inspiration from the photo - bath = water!

Due to the hectic start I have had this year, I haven't managed to join in on any of the monthly challenges.  I am hoping that this is the turning point for me and that I will be able to join in the May challenge too!

Since I have used a Fresh Brewed Designs image, I am also entering the blog candy challenge:

Easter Chicks

The last time I used this image I paper pieced it.  This time I coloured the image which I enjoyed much more!

I am entering my card into these challenges:

Sassy Studio Designs - Easter
http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/dtbst-225-here-comes-peter-cottontail.html

I have used a green background paper with just a border pattern.  The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and coloured with copic markers E43, E41, E00, YG03, YG00, Y06.  I also used some green satin ribbon and some white ribbon roses which I coloured with YG03.

Spring Time Scene

A lovely spring time scene featuring tulips, daisies, ladybirds, butterflies, etc.  And I do love that sun peaking out from the clouds and wish it was doing that here!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Catch The Bug - Spring Time
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/theme-challenge-spring-time.html

I have worked with a checked background which matches the colours in the image.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is one of the Scene It stamps.  I have coloured using copic markers and then added some Stickles to the clouds (didn't want them to look like rain clouds!).  I used some flowery lace that my Mum gave to me last year.  She has had it for many years (probably more than 30 knowing my Mum) and hadn't found a use for it.  I also added some small pink pearls from Sullivans.

Hello Spring

A nice bright Spring card - to cheer up my very wintry feeling autumn day!!!  I managed to get rained on when I went to the market this morning and it is still looking very bleak outside now!

http://chocolatecoffeecards.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/challenge-63-spring.html

I have used a background paper with colours from the image (I had coloured the image before picking the paper so I was lucky I found some to match!).  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is coloured in copic markers G17, R17, YR02, Y06, E43, W3, W0.  I added some red flowers, yellow pearls and some red satin ribbon.

Doodling with Scribbles Designs

It has been one of those weeks!  I just realised that I haven't actually posted this card up (and it should have been posted on 15th April!)  Oops!

So, without further ado, here is my card for the new Scribbles Designs Challenge which is all about Doodling.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:
Glitter n Sparkle - Not A Square Card
http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/challenge-80.html

As well as the doodled image, I also added some doodling of my own around the image!  The image is Flower Doodle 3 from Scribbles By Sandy.

The observant person will notice that I made a slight error when I created this card.  If you have a look at the image in the shop (by clicking the linked title) you will see what I mean!!

Easter Flowers

Some sweet red flowers for Easter:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Happy Easter
http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/happy-easter.html

I have used a fairly neutral paper for the background.  The image is from QKR Stampede and has been coloured with copic markers with a touch of Stickles to the centre of the largest flower.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva and has some colour added with copic marker YG03.  I coloured some white ribbon roses with copic marker R59 and dotted some tiny white pearls from Sullivans around them.  I also added some larger white pearls from the same set to the top corner of the card.  Matting is deep red cardstock.

Easter Bunnies

A more traditional image for this Easter card than I have been using recently:

I have used a glittery background paper from DCWV.  The image is from A Day For Daisies and is coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva.  The ribbon is from American Crafts.  I added faux stitching to the image, sentiment and the ribbon panel and then added some brown pearls from Sullivans to finish.

An Easter Card without a bunny in sight!

I have used a glittery background paper.  The image is from Delicious Doodles and is coloured with copic markers E00, R14, E43, E41, Y06, G14.  I have matted using yellow pearlescent paper.  I also die-cut a bouquet using a Memory Box die and the yellow pearlescent paper.

Colour and Sequins

I had a colour palette to work with for this card:

I am entering this card into these challenges:
Meljens Designs Studio - Colour Palette + Sequins
PINspirational Challenge - Photo Inspiration (chevrons)

I have used a background with a chevron pattern to it. The image comes from Meljens Designs Studio.  I matted with some red cardstock from Rosie's Studio.  I also added some glitter tape (American Crafts) rhinestones, bow, pearl (Sullivans), shaped sequins.

Elegance

This image of Mulan is so elegant I just had to team it with some white paper roses and a beautiful and elegant die.

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Sassy Studio Designs - Make own embellishments (paper roses)
http://sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/dtbst-224-make-it-creative.html

I have used a striped background paper from DCWV plus some pink cardstock for the matting of the top layer of background paper.  It is possibly a little hard to tell from the photograph that there are two layers there!  The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and coloured with copic markers.  I know I used E43 and E41 on the hair but not sure of the dress colours!  The dies that I have used on the image and also to cut the basic flower shape are from Marianne's.  I rolled the flowers quite loosely to give a more open look than I usually have to my flowers!  I dotted a couple of medium sized white pearls around the flowers.
